But that would take away from the DEEP EMOTIONAL ANGST THEY FEEL

Plus that would mean breaking away from the JRPG standard of emotionally one-dimensional characters

what deep emotional? o.O If everyone. One and another and another toon look sad and agresive that make look them seriusly blank. Like clean piece of paper without any good emotion. I bet some ppl like it. Once i even like but i relized then "deep emotions" are nothing more like emotion which make rich child when are angry couse didnt get lolipop
